A review of the Bombtrack Beyond bikes
Bombrack 1, Bombrack 2, Bombrack+, Bombrack+ ADV
Weight, tire clearance, wheel size, frame material, size, and geometry
This expedition machine has been one of our favorites since its introduction in 2016. Finally, here is our review.

How we write our reviews: most of our reviews are based on first-hand long-term use or short-term test by a member of our team. For some new models or build variations, we rely on our experience with similar models and our team's experience in understanding bike geometry and components.

The Bombtrack Beyond comes in four different models, which we’ll compare in this article:
- Bombtrack Beyond 1: price about $2,400
- Bombtrack Beyond 2: price about $2,600
- Bombtrack Beyond+: price about $2,200
- Bombtrack Beyond+ ADV: price about $2,900
The Bombtrack Beyond+ ADV is the top of the gamma and our favourite. It features a single-speed chainring (30T) and a 12-speed 10-52T as the drive train of choice, a great set of gears capable of bringing you up the steepest and roughest hills.
The carbon fork reduces weight while still offering triple fork cage mounts.
Although Bombtrack still offers various handlebar options, the Jones Loop Bar will now be the standard. They might seem a little weird, but they provide more hand positions, helping the shoulders and upper body stay relaxed for hours in the saddle.
The Beyond 1 and Beyond 2, anyway, are great machines for bikepacking and cycle touring expeditions.
Designed as a bike packer’s dream, the Beyond features mounting options for front and rear racks as well as up to five water bottle cages.
The Bombtrack Beyond is just what I would use for extreme off-road bikepacking expeditions.
Prices in this article are indicative and subject to change based on the vendor.

Bombtrack Beyond Models Comparison Table
Bombtrack 1 VS 2 VS + VS +ADV in a nutshell
A 2×10 drivetrain for the Beyond 1 and a 1×11 drivetrain for the Beyond 2, the Bombtrack 1 has the widest gear range and is the fastest, but it’s also the only one with a front derailleur and relatively budget components.
The Beyond+ ADV is the only one featuring a carbon fork, while both the + and +ADV are upgraded to Hydraulic disk brakes. Same gear sets for these two, but an 11-50T (SRAM PG-1210 EAGLE) vs a 10-52T XG-1275 for the Beyond+ ADV – both have 12 speeds.

Bombtrack Beyond Geometries Compared
As we can see from the table here, the Bombtrack 1 and 2 have the same geometry; they only differ slightly in components.
The Beyond+ and the +ADV are similar to each other, differing only in wheel size, which affects the trail and overall wheelbase; the +ADV has a longer wheelbase by only about 8mm.
The difference in the overall length, though, is vast between the + series and the Beyond 1 and 2, about 70mm. The plus also have a more sloping geometry and the +ADV a much wider tire clearance.
