Ok, this could make someone’s nose turn up Where are the gears? Is this a single-speed?

Well, that’s how Genesis launched the Day One, and although the bike raised some interest, it was still too niche.

With the 2021 version, Genesis gave the bike a completely new look and added a Shimano Nexus 8-speed hub to keep it low-maintenance while giving owners more options to tackle hilly routes.

Since most gravel bikes have very similar characteristics, we thought of adding a few different options among our bike reviews, maybe we could give you some ideas you haven’t thought of.

With their efficiency and low-maintenance requirements, single-cog drivetrains are already a popular option for commuting. Still, more and more cyclists are starting to use gear hub bikes for adventure rides and bikepacking.

If you are not planning on extreme rides, considering a hub gear gravel bike like the Genesis Day One 10 is far from foolish.

The steel frame and fork are high-quality Genesis components, with ample room for full-length mudguards for year-round dry-bottom commuting and off-road riding, while the Promax DSK-300 disc brakes provide adequate stopping power.

The Genesis Day One 2022 is an excellent buy for those looking for a maintenance-free commuter that could double as a light adventure/gravel bike.
